Working toward the realization of a sustainable society and environment

In line with its corporate philosophy of "co-existence and co-prosperity", Chikuma & Co., Ltd. ("Chikuma") recognizes CSR management as an important part of its business operations in its role as an organization trusted and respected by its stakeholders. In consideration of the objectives of the SDGs*1 (Sustainable Development Goals), global goals for a sustainable society and environment, and in order to further build on our management policy which places a strong emphasis on the environment, safety and security, we are incorporating the initiatives of the seven principles and seven core subjects of international standard ISO 26000 into our business operations.
With the aim of realizing a sustainable society, Chikuma aspires to create a new clothing culture and promote a new way of life both in Japan and overseas and through CSV, (Creating Shared Value)*2, to achieve a balance between resolving social issues and ensuring the further growth of Chikuma, we hope to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society and environment.
Our executive officers and employees pledge to comply with the relevant laws and regulations and act in line with the highest ethical standards while also making a habit of reflecting on their actions and acquiring the necessary knowledge to perform their duties to the best of their ability while devoting themselves to their duties.

*2CSV:Creating Shared Value. The creation of shared value. A philosophy of balancing social and corporate values in order to contribute to the resolution of social issues through business practices.

Corporate philosophy

To pursue innovation and progress on a daily basis while aiming to achieve co-existence and co-prosperity with our business partners by adhering to our corporate mission with the aim of ensuring on-going growth and development.
Chikuma and its employees will work together to contribute to the development of society, welfare and culture by seeking the happiness of employees through its business activities.

Basic concept

In line with international standard ISO 26000, Chikuma is closely examining its business-related risks and opportunities and creating a framework for CSR in accordance with the seven principles that form the basic concept behind CSR and seven core subjects that form the framework for CSR activities. Of these core subjects, we are focusing on three subjects: the environment, consumer issues and community involvement and development; with the aim of Creating Shared Value (CSV) to achieve a balance between social and economic value.
